One of the things I’ve found to be hard about being married is dinner, which surprises me, because I love to cook. But sometimes, I just run out of ideas. Or ingredients. And don’t know what to do.
So this was the situation I found myself in earlier this week. No dinner ideas, no inspiration waiting in the cupboard, nothing. I asked Tyler while we were enjoying our lunch break together if he wanted anything in particular for dinner. His answer was obvious: pizza. Should’ve seen that one coming! Tyler could eat pizza for every meal, every day.
But then he took his idea further. “Let’s make homemade pizza!” he says. I say, “Why not?” So we did!
I’ve used this dough recipe a few times and it’s worked very well for me, thanks to Mom’s Dish. Have fun making pizzas together and get creative with your toppings! We sure did! For this pizza, we used BBQ pizza sauce, cheddar cheese, chopped onion, red peppers, chicken, pineapple, and, on my half, corn (don’t knock it ’til you try it…TYLER).
For more traditional pizza, use pepperoni, sausage, and homemade pizza sauce.
You will need:
- 3 1/4 C Flour
- 3/4 Tbls Yeast
- 1 1/4 C Luke Warm Water
- 1/2 Tbls Salt
- 1/2 Tbls Sugar
- 1/8 C Olive Oil
Mix yeast, water, salt, sugar and olive oil in a medium sized bowl. Once yeast starts to foam, add in your flour. Mix until flour is worked in. (Depending on the strength of your mixer, you may have to use your hands!)
Cover the bowl with plastic and let the dough raise for 1-2 hours. (We let our dough raise an hour and a half and it worked great.)
Roll out onto a greased pizza pan and top as desired!
Pizza bakes for 15 mins on 425 F. Yields one large pizza (feeds 4).
